When your vehicles windshield gets a stone chip or is completely cracked it is imperative to fix or replace it as soon as possible. A windshield plays a very important role in the structural integrity of your automobile. In recent studies during a front end collision a windshield provided up to 45% of the vehicles structural integrity, and during a rollover study it provided up to 60% of the vehicles structural integrity.
A chipped or broken windshield is a major safety concern and increases you and your passenger’s safety risks in the event of an automobile accident as a damaged windshield or back glass weakens the structural support of a vehicle.
The windshield also plays a major role in the safety restraint system in your car. In the event of a rollover accident, it can prevent the roof from caving in on you. It also allows the air bags to deploy in the correct position to keep you and your passengers safe if an accident should occur. A properly installed windshield will also prevent drivers and passengers from being ejected in the event of a front end collision.
